The IBRI is located in the IU School of Medicine's Biotechnology Research & Training Center (BRTC) on the near-west side of Indianapolis. Our location includes 20,000 square feet of laboratory and open collaboration space, including 22 wet labs and office space for IBRI-affiliated commercial entities and start-ups.
The IBRI will be an anchor tenant in Innovation Building 1 under construction in the 16 Tech Innovation District. 16 Tech is purpose-built to develop, attract and retain world-leading talent to collaborate, create and commercialize new ideas across a spectrum of advanced industries, including life sciences, technology, advanced manufacturing and other technology-intensive industries.

The IBRI will occupy 68,000 square feet of Innovation Building 1 on the 16 Tech campus with open and transparent office and lab space.
Comprising 60 acres of prime location less than one mile from downtown Indianapolis, 16 Tech will have 1.5 million square feet of flexible research and innovation space, as well as retail and residential development.
16 Tech will feature 20 acres of pedestrian and bicycle friendly cultural trails and pathways, and ample green space for community events, programs and recreation.
The IBRI will be situated between the IU School of Medicine, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, IU Health, Riley Children’s Hospital, Eskenazi Hospital and the Veteran’s Administration Hospital.
The IBRI will be adjacent to two-thirds of the advanced industries’ assets in the region, including information technology, advanced engineering and biosciences.
