Indiana Biosciences Research Institute Adds CFO, Director of External Affairs

The Indiana Biosciences Research Institute (IBRI) announced today the addition of Mark Andersen as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Administration and Christy Denault, Director of External Affairs and Communications.

“The addition of these two staff members continues to build a top-notch executive team ready to lead the IBRI as we establish research operations and continue to recruit world class talent,” said David Broecker, President and CEO.

Andersen most recently served as Vice President of Finance and Corporate Controller for a biomedical company in Georgia, where he was responsible for SEC financial reporting, acquisitions, SOX internal controls, payroll, and payables.

Previously, Andersen held multiple financial leadership roles at Eli Lilly and Company, including Investments Director for the company’s pension and 401k plans, Finance Director within the Corporate Finance Investment Banking (M&A) team with responsibility for acquisitions, licensing, valuations, and diligence, and Corporate Controller for Lilly USA LLC, which is Lilly’s U.S. Affiliate with more than $10 billion in annual sales.  Andersen began his career in public accounting working for the firms KPMG and Deloitte. 

Andersen received Bachelor of Science and Master’s degrees in Accounting from Southern Utah University, and an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.  Andersen is a licensed CPA and a CFA charter holder.   

Denault has managed communications and public relations in both the private and public sector over the past 20 years. She previously worked as the Director of Communications for both the Governor and the Lt. Governor of the State of Indiana, developing communications strategy for key initiatives, including the launch of the state’s Healthy Indiana Plan 2.0.

Prior to her stint with the state, Denault worked in the private sector for a family-owned agricultural company, developing the company’s first public relations strategy, updating the corporate brand, and developing new communications tools and strategies. She also worked for the Purdue College of Agriculture, where she was responsible for stakeholder communications and developing citizen advocates.

Denault earned her Bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Iowa and her Master’s degree in international conflict analysis from the University of Kent in Canterbury, where she studied as a Fulbright Scholar.
