Jacob Smith pursues continuous improvement to improve operational efficiencies for administration and research teams. At the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute (IBRI), Smith orchestrates the implementation and support of everything technology related to improve processes for the IBRI. He finds value in partners and providers to deliver the technology requirements of the institute.
Prior to joining the IBRI, Smith served at Corteva Agriscience (formerly Dow AgroSciences) and as a consultant leading the implementation of software solutions to help researchers optimize process and data management, freeing them to focus on their science.
Smith brought many teams together to deliver the technology needs of the IBRI in Innovation Building 1 in the 16 Tech Innovation District including the new audio-visual functionality utilized both internally and by non-IBRI organizations. He led a team of developers to create a data management process that allowed a team of researchers to cut weeks off data acquisition, allowing the organization to quadruple the number of samples that could be tested in a season.
Smith lives in Brownsburg, IN, with his wife and two daughters. Together they enjoy relaxing movie nights, competing at board games and enjoying nature while running a trail.
