Reni Boyarov

Reni Boyarov works in the Zhang Lab to conduct in vivo and in vitro experiments to help investigate the pathogenesis of and immunotherapies for type I diabetes.

Before joining the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute (IBRI), Boyarov assisted in an undergraduate neuroscience laboratory, where she studied the functional properties of zebrafish pyramidal neurons and monitored visually-evoked neuronal activity using multiphoton fluorescence microscopy. During her last semester, she completed a microbiology lab, as well as an immunology course that drove her novel interest in diabetes research and cell culture. In the future, she aims to further her education by applying to graduate school.

Boyarov currently lives in Indianapolis, IN. She enjoys traveling abroad and visiting family in Bulgaria, as well as hiking, music, fashion, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her friends and boyfriend.
